Questions about the Function

What kind of functions do you perform at?

Weddings
Company parties
Calgary Stampede functions
School Dances
Community socials
Any function that requires music

How long do you play for?

With all our packages, we provide up to four (4) hours of dance music (actual DJ work hours) and up to four (4) hours of background music of your choice.

Do you setup early or before the guests arrive?

Yes, we always prefer to setup prior to your guests arriving so that we are not interfering with your function by bringing in equipment. As well, this provides a more professional appearance and allows us to be changed into clothing appropriate for your function. Typically, we start setting up 90 to 120 minutes prior to your guests arriving.

Can you setup for our ceremony?

Yes, we can setup for your ceremony. If your ceremony is within one (1) hour of the reception, there is no additional cost. If it is earlier in the day, we highly recommend booking our WeddingQuest package.

Do we need to feed the DJ team?

We appreciate any meals that you can provide to the DJ Team, being the DJ & the assistant; as we will typically be working a twelve hour day for you.

Will your staff drink alcohol while providing services to us?

The QE staff will not drink alcohol at any time while providing services to you as we provide a professional service and intoxication would not allow us to perform at peak performance.

What does the QE staff wear to the function?

The QE staff will wear what is appropriate to the function, which for the following functions is as follows after setup is completed:
Semi-formal attire (dress pants, shirt, & tie) for:
Weddings
Company Christmas Parties
Social functions
Semi-casual attire (sweater or long sleeve shirt with non-jean pants)
When appropriate, such as school dances, community socials, or other functions that do not require semi-formal or formal attire.
Formal attire (tuxedo): On request and at cost to the customer
Weddings
Socials

Questions about the DJ Equipment

What kind of DJ equipment does QE use?

QE uses several top manufacturers in the Professional Audio equipment world, such as:
Denon
Dual CD deck Denon 9000
Stanton RM.406 Mixer
QSC
DBX
EV
JBL speakers and crossover
Carver
Furman

QE is all about Quality, we use the best in the industry so we can sound the best for you and your guests. Why pay for less?

With all that high quality equipment, how much of it is rented? You can't own it all!

Actually, all our equipment is owned and operated by the company! Our DJ rig is valued at over $25k and we take approximately $25k in music to every function; making our DJ rig one of the most expensive in Canada as well.

We don't rent anything at all, which keeps our costs as low as possible for you, our customer. In fact, a lot of the equipment we use is special ordered and couldn't be rented anywheres in Western Canada!

We maintain a hgh quality standard of excellence and that ensures that breakdowns are minimal and our customers receive the best optimal audio and visual experience.

How big is your DJ rig?

The QE DJ rig when used with all four speakers, has 3200 speaker watts and up to 4400 amplifier watts at 8ohms stereo. When all four speakers are used, the speakers stand higher than 6' high. The QE DJ system when combined with the LightQuest package; is a literal mobile night club coming to YOUR event!

To give you an idea, when we setup in Calgary we turn the venue into the 5th largest nightclub in the city!

That's a really BIG DJ rig, won't it be too loud for our small group?

Actually, we keep the volume to a very reasonable level. When you and your guests are ready for the night club sound, we can turn it up then. Until then, it sounds phenomenal when kept at a low volume. Remember, you can always keep a big system turned down and have it sound awesome however a small system won't give you the musical quality anywhere near the same when turned up.

How much space do you need to setup in?

Hard to believe, but we've setup in the back of our van, in a closet, and in a stairwell at the Devonian Gardens. We can take up a minimal amount of space and are very versatile in how we setup.

How many tables do you need to setup with?

We prefer to have at least one six or eight foot table for setup.

What does the QE DJ rig look like when setup?

A picture of the DJ rig can be found here.

Does QE have backup equipment?

Yes, we have backup equipment kept at our office in case of an equipment failure.

All members of the CDJA must have backup equipment available for use; though it is not required to be brought to the function.

Questions about the Music

What kind of music do you play?

We play a very wide variety of music, which is highly dependant on the crowd and type of function we are playing at. The music you may hear at your function are genres such as:

Music from the decades of 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s.
Country
Rock
Top 40
Disco
Pop

If you do not want to hear any specific songs or genres of music, let us know and we'’ll ensure it is not played during the course of your function.

Do you take requests?

YES! We take requests all night from your guests and will hear announcements to that effect throughout the night.

How many songs do you bring to the function?

We bring over 20,000 songs to every event in a .WAV CD quality format, which is 1411kbps song files. Quests End refuses to compromise on quality for its customers by using MP3's which are low quality representations of the original music which is usually compressed from 128kpbs to 256kpbs.

Will you play music we bring to the function?

Yes, we will certainly play any music you bring; especially cultural music specific to your function or music you want to ensure you hear during the evening. We prefer original CDs due to quality and copyright reasons. If you choose to bring a burned CD, a bitrate sampling higher than 192kbps is preferred as this is the minimum sound quality requirement. Regardless of which bitrate you use, you WILL hear the difference on our DJ sound system. This is due to the quality of our sound equipment.

Questions about the Lightshow

What packages include a LightShow?

The LightQuest, WeddingQuest, & EventQuest packages include a lightshow.

What kind of lights does QE use?

QE generally uses two different manufacturers of lighting equipment, being Martin & Chauvet Lighting.

Martin Lights:
Raptor
T-Rex (2 units)
PR1 (2units)
EFX 600 (2 units)
Atomic 3000 Strobe Light

Chauvet lights:
Color Accents (2 units)
SlimPar 64 (2 units)
ColorStrip (4 units)

Other manufacturer's equipment is used for the following:
MirrorBall
Laser
Microh Par38 LED lights
Black light
Hazer
Fog machine
Truss & T-bar stands

What kind of fog or hazer fluid do you use?

QE uses water based fluids which allow for non-residual air effects which are typically non-allergenic.
The fog or hazer may not be allowed for use at all event locations, therefore QE staff will coordinate with the event location to ensure it is approved for use.

Are you able to show our wedding monogram or company logo at our event?

Are you able to use our wedding/company colours on your spot lights (Par-38s)?

Yes, for a nominal extra cost we can change the six Par-38s gel colours to match your wedding colours. By changing to your wedding colours, the lights will provide ambient lighting off of the walls, ceiling, and mirror ball; while also being a light-to-music effect on its own.

Is a lightshow really worth it?

The lightshow is worth the extra cost as it adds a visual ambience to the function, making the setup more like a nightclub experience than just a musical experience.
See some pictures of our lightshow here:

We would like to have a Star Wars Corporate/Wedding interactive experience, how can I do that?

The financial requirement for the 501st Badlands Garrison is a donation to a charity of their choice, as direct payment to its members is not allowed.

Your DJ has performed at over 900 events.

What if the DJ is incapacitated or dies?

QE has two assistants which will take over the remainder of the dances until the end of all bookings are concluded in the event of my death, at which time no more dances will be booked.

Why does QE provide two people to every function?
